Poem: Left.Right.Wrong

On the opposite side

Of the right side

Of your bed

I lay on my stomach

Dozing off to a sweet, fleeting dream

“What were you thinking that night?”

I heard you ask and wondered

Why you asked

For the first time, I was

Not sure what was

On your mind

“Just wanted to be your company”

I said, and it was no lie

“It’s late…you should leave”

I wanted to lie there

Just a bit longer

While your eyes were still fixed upon me

Because I knew

This time leaving

Means leaving

And there was nothing

Left

To make you stay
